THE METHOD

MIND BODY SCULPT

Fitness with a focus on core control, back care and muscle strength

The Mind Body Sculpt Method is a dynamic blend of Pilates and strength training which utilises both bodyweight and resistance equipment to raise fitness levels, build stronger core control and tone muscles whilst also increasing flexibility, balance, coordination and better postural awareness. This unique blend was created for those looking for an alternative personal training system that moves away from very heavy weightlifting and repetitious gym-based workouts to offer a more holistic approach to strength training that still actively achieves results. The basis of this practice is to work incredibly hard in an intelligent and functional way, which often involves targeting deep core stabilising muscles as well as the larger global aesthetic ones. Sessions are designed to empower, encourage and to take to you to the edge of your comfort zone and are uniquely tailored to your goals.

the TOOLS WE USE

THE PILATES REFORMER

The reformer is a magic machine which targets your core muscles whilst providing a high intensity, low impact, full body workout. Most movements involve pushing or pulling against spring resistance in either a lying, seated or standing position. This unique feature teaches you how to stabilise the abdominals, which helps strengthen the back as well as flatten the core, and is also perfect for those with injuries, knee sensitivity, mobility issues, or pre/post natal clients who want to increase strength and stamina without causing injury or aggravation.

SUSPENSION TRAINING and PULL UP BAR

Due to the way suspension training leverages gravity and body weight against body angle, body stability and body momentum (pendulum effect) this enables various exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously and aid injury prevention and rehabilitation. Challenge is placed on core and stabilising muscles in all exercises and as such this method of training is perfect for building strength and improving posture.

RESISTANCE EQUIPTMENT

We use a wide range of resistance equipment from pilates balls, thera bands, sliders and dumbbells to larger weights such as kettlebells and an outdoor barbell. With this we can target individual muscle groups or challenge movement and core by shifting the centre of gravity, creating instability, or increasing the force of the movement. A broad range of resistance equipment gives many more options then heavy weight lifting alone and allows your workout to be varied and balanced.

MAT PILATES AND DYNAMIC YOGA

These practices are designed to strengthen and lengthen the body in a dynamic and mindful way. The bodyweight exercises of yoga build bone density, increase balance, flexibility and coordination which improve posture and introduce mindfulness to your workout. This, blended with mat pilates, teaches us how to move from our ‘powerhouse’ in order to expand, mobilise and hold ourselves more efficiently. Specific attention is placed on the breath work of these practices used as a tool to regulate the nervous system whilst still working hard.
